The Taupo Trout Fishery provides for exciting river and lake fishing all year round, and attracts anglers from all around the world seeking to test their skills against its wild rainbow and brown trout.
Within a relatively small geographic area, anglers can enjoy all sorts of fishing styles depending on the time of the year and their angling skill.
Also, within the same area is a variety of landscapes - from fishing the strong currents and quiet pools of the Tongariro River, to summer boat fishing on Lake Taupo, or the complete solitude of Lake Otamangakau.
The climate is temperate, and ranges from very warm summer temperatures to winter snowfalls. Be sure to come prepared, as cold weather is possible at any time of the year.
Location
The Taupo Fishery includes Lake Taupo and its catchment, the Waikato River down to Huka Falls, lakes Moawhango and Otamangakau, but not Lake Rotoaira.
